CHAPTER 1
PRELIMINARY
1.1. Background Of The Problem
This
paper was made to increase knowledge about global warming or global warming is
happening today. Many factors or causes that create global warming itself
occurs. The world's problems can not be resolved, there has been no effective
solutions to solve them. Maybe it's a lot of countermeasures that have been
done, but not too visible results that we can feel.
1.2. Purpose
The
objective of this paper to complete the tasks assigned by the lecturer. Besides
the manufacture of this paper is to sensitize about the circumstances that
exist at the moment. The hope is that the authors of this paper can be useful
for those who have read it.
CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION
2.1 Definition of Global Warming
Global
warming or often also called global warming is the increase in the average
temperature of the atmosphere, ocean, and land earth caused by several factors.
most likely caused by increased concentrations of greenhouse gases due to human
activity through the greenhouse effect global warming will be followed by
Climate Change, such as increased rainfall in some parts of the world, causing
flooding and erosion. Meanwhile, in the other hemisphere will experience a
prolonged dry season due to the temperature rise.
2.2 Cause of Global Warming
1.
Greenhouse Effect
All
energy sources that exist on Earth comes from the sun. When this energy arrives
the Earth's surface, the light is turned into heat which warms the Earth.
Earth's surface will absorb some of the heat and reflect kembai rest. Some of
this heat tangible long-wave infrared radiation into space. Some of this heat
tangible long-wave infrared radiation into space. However, some heat remains trapped
in the earth's atmosphere due to the accumulated amount of greenhouse gases
include water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane that become traps for this
radiation. These gases absorb and reflect radiation emitted by the Earth and
consequently the heat stored in the Earth's surface. This situation occurs
continuously, resulting in an annual average temperature of the earth continues
to increase. These gases working in the greenhouse gas. With the increasing
concentration of these gases in the atmosphere, the more heat is trapped below.
2.
Effects Feedback
Feedback process that occurs affects the
causes of global warming. An example is in the process of evaporation of water.
In the case of warming due to increasing greenhouse gases like CO2, warming will
initially cause greater volumes of water that evaporates into the atmosphere.
Because water vapor is itself a greenhouse gas, warming will continue and
increase the amount of water vapor in the air until it reaches equilibrium with
the water vapor concentration. The resulting greenhouse effect greater than the
effect of CO2 alone. (Although this feedback raises the absolute water content
in the air, the relative humidity of the air is almost constant or even fall
because the air becomes warm). This feedback affects only slowly because of CO2
have longevity in the atmosphere.
Another important feedback is the loss
of reflectance (albedo) by ice. When global temperatures rise, ice near the
poles melts at an increasing rate. Along with melting ice, land or water below
it will open. Both land and water has the ability to reflect light much less
when compared to ice, and consequently will absorb more solar radiation. This
will add to warming and causing even more ice to melt, causing a continuous
cycle.
Positive feedback due to release of CO2
and CH4 from the softening of frozen ground (permafrost) are other mechanisms
that contribute to warming. In addition, the ice that melts will also release
CH4 which also give rise to positive feedback.
The
ability of the oceans to absorb carbon will also be reduced when he warmed up,
this is caused by the decline in the level of nutrients in the mesopelagic
zone, limiting the growth of phytoplankton diatoms rather than a carbon sink
that low.
3.
Deforestation
Rampant
cases of deforestation is one of the causes of global warming today.
Deforestation which reduces the absorption of carbon by trees, causing the
increase of carbon emissions by 20%, and change the local micro-climate and
hydrological cycle, thus affecting soil fertility. Forests are the lungs of the
Earth now can not function optimally because it has a very reduced number of
existing trees. The number of trees there can not balance out the large number
of existing CO2 in the Earth.
2.3
Impact of Global Warming
1.
Start Unstable Climate
It
has been estimated by scientists, the northern regions of the northern
hemisphere will warm faster than other regions on Earth. This will result in
the melting of icebergs and land area will shrink. There will be less ice floating
in these waters. , Areas which previously experienced a mild snow, probably
will not get it again. In the temperate mountains, snow-covered portion will
shrink and will melt faster. The planting season will be longer in some areas.
Temperatures in winter and at night will tend to increase.
Warm areas will become more humid
because more water evaporates from the oceans. High humidity will increase
rainfall, on average, about 1 percent for every degree Fahrenheit warming.
Storms will become more frequent. In addition, the water will evaporate more
quickly from the ground. As a result, some areas will become drier than ever.
The wind will blow more strongly, and perhaps with different patterns.
Hurricanes (hurricane) that draws its strength from the evaporation of water,
would be greater. Contrary to the warming that occurred, some very cold periods
will probably occur. Weather patterns become less predictable and more extreme.
2.
Improved Sea Level
When
the atmosphere warms, the surface layer of the oceans will also be warmed,
causing the volume to be enlarged and raise sea levels. Warming also led to the
melting of ice at the poles, especially around Greenland.
Changes in sea level will greatly affect
the life on the beach area. Some areas will be submerged. Erosion of cliffs,
beaches and sand dunes will increase. Even a slight rise in sea level will
greatly affect coastal ecosystems, for example, will drown coastal marshes
half.
3.
Ecological Disturbance
Animals
and plants into living creatures that are difficult to avoid the effects of
global warming because most of the land is controlled by humans. In global
warming, animals tend to migrate toward the poles and up the mountains. Plants
will change the direction of growth, seeking new areas as old habitats become
too warm. However, human development will hinder this displacement. Species
that migrate north or south that are blocked by cities or agricultural lands
may be dead. Some types of species that are not able to move quickly towards
the poles may also be destroyed.
2.4 Control of Global Warming
The
current challenge is to overcome the effects that arise while performing steps
to prevent increased climate change in the future. The damage that has occurred
can be addressed in several ways. The beach area is protected by didnding and a
barrier to prevent the ingress of sea water. As another way, the government is
helping populations in coastal areas to move to higher ground. There are two
ways to slow the increase in greenhouse gases. First, it prevents the carbon
dioxide released into the atmosphere by storing the gas in another place. This
is called carbon sequestration (removing carbon). The second way is to reduce
the production of greenhouse gases.
Other ways that can be
done is as follows:
- Planting trees
- Traveling with an
environmentally friendly vehicle, for example: bicycles
- Use of energy-saving
electronic device
- Reduce the use of air
conditioning
- Recycling of organic
waste
- Separate Waste Paper,
Plastic, and Cans in order to Recyclable
CHAPTER III
CONCLUSIONS AND
SUGGESTIONS
3.1
Conclusion
Global
warming is happening now is a result of our own actions. As humans we are not
able to keep up with both the place where we live. If we are not aware of the
impact that occurred later, then life on Earth will be threatened. To overcome
this, has done some penangulangan. This reduction will be effective if all
parties to participate to do so.
3.2
Suggestions
Global
warming can be reduced if we instill a love for this Earth. We should be able
to maintain and preserve it, for the sake of survival in the future.
